How does Amani’s Sponsorship Program Work?
Sponsorship plans cover the costs of both a scholarship to the local private school (including tuition, materials, and transport) as well as a children’s place at Amani (food, childcare, medical and personal needs).
Costs vary based on plan tier. We ask for a minimum of a five-year commitment, and a full year notice of any changes in support.
This allows us to make sure a child can bond with and feel secure in their relationship with their sponsor(s). It also prevents interruptions in a children’s education due to a sudden drop of support.
We believe that every scholar should be matched with a sponsor(s) to foster a mentor-mentee relationship that encourages academic success and accountability. Our goal is to have every child in our care directly supported. Sponsorship is prioritized on the basis of 1. student need and 2. student effort.
This empowers students to feel a sense of agency and achievement, rather than that they are the recipients of pity or aid. Sponsors are cheerleaders, not saviors.
